Machine Knitting Live in Rochdale

Each October Machine Knitting LIVE! is staged in the heart of the North West and this time we have a new home for the show. It’s to be held at the Sports Complex of Matthew Moss High School in Matthew Moss Lane, Rochdale OL11 3LU on Sunday 4th October.

DIRECTIONS
Head North West on the M62. At Junction 20, take the A627(M) exit to Rochdale/Oldham (.3 mile). At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto A627(M) heading to Rochdale (1.2 miles). Turn left at A664 Edinburgh Way (signs for Rochdale/A664/A58) (.4 mile). At the roundabout, take the first exit onto A58 Manchester Road, which becomes Bolton Road. Continue to follow A58. The roundabout at .7 mile is now traffic lights so go through the lights. Turn left at Matthew Moss Lane (.1 mile) to Matthew Moss High School. The school is about 3 miles from the motorway.

The multi-purpose complex was built four years ago and the indoor facilities include a sports hall that we’ll use for our exhibition, a conference room for talks and an octagon-shaped gymnasium for the fashion show. Everything is on ground floor level and there’s lots of free parking outside. It’s less than three miles from Junction 20 on the M62. The date for your diary this year is Sunday 4th October 2009 from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. It’s a great ‘all knitting’ show with top exhibitors bringing along their yarns, patterns and accessories. Over the past few years, our fashion show has become increasingly popular and it’s always a show with pizzazz! Our new venue allows us to have free talks and the speakers will be on the notice board at the entrance when you arrive. Entry on the day for everyone will be £5, advance tickets cost £4.

It is always useful to be able to buy spares and yarns together with a variety of patterns but the extras, like the fashion show and the cafe were good too.  The people manning the stalls were also very helpful and offered advice where appropriate and the ladies from Sweatshop were a delight.

This was a friendly and happy occasion and I shall be very happy to attend again next year.  It seemed to be well attended with people coming from long distances and it was good to see that Machine Knitting is still alive and kicking.

Well done everybody involved.
