Knitters in Spalding?

no comments

Dear Anne
I live in Spalding, Lincolnshire and I’m expecting to move to the Stamford area when the house sells. I’m returning to machine knitting after 20 years, only dabbled with the basics even then. I am looking for a machine knitting club near either area. I would be grateful if any one could let me know if there are any available. After a break of 20 years, your magazine has helped me to start knitting again. I was not very experienced at that time either, but with children grown up I can now spend more time on my hobbies.

I wonder if any of your readers come from the Dewsbury area of West Yorkshire as I would like to contact other knitters locally.

Bury Knitters

Hello Anne
I’m a new comer to your magazine and I’ve only had two, but love them up to now. You can’t imagine how disappointed I was to see I’d just missed the Rochdale show. I don’t live far from where it was held, so my question is to wonder how I’ll find a club around the Oldham and Manchester area.

Club in Redruth?

Hi Anne
Big problems! I’ve had my knitting machine for a number of years and decided to bring it down from the loft, give it a good clean and check it out. After replacing the retaining bar and some needles, it has been working fine. I got a second hand ribber for it and I can’t keep the knitting on the machine. Either the stitches drop off the needles and I cant see them till its too late or the knitting gets caught on the gate pegs. I’ve not had a ribber before and I’ve followed all the instructions that I’ve been given.

End of the cold weather?

no comments

Dear Readers
I’m writing this in January when, I hope, the snow has finally gone. At one point we were snowed in, with treacherous conditions on the roads and pavements. I’ve never been so thankful for rain. One thing it did was remind me that we all need a selection of knits to keep us warm. Lots of thin layers are always the best, but Fair Isle sweaters are equally good because the floats across the back provide extra insulation.

We’re now looking forward to Machine Knitting LIVE! at Bournemouth on Saturday 6th March. The usual exhibitors will be there to bring you lots of goodies and inspiration and we look forward to welcoming some new faces this time. Full details are on page 13 and please call me at the office if you’d like to order advance tickets and save £1.
