Always found in stitches

Catriona Little , 01307-461916

Evenings on Wednesday | Every week

Now the nights are drawing in it’s a sure sign that Autumn and Winter activities are about to get underway again. Just so for Angus Machine Knitters who meet weekly on Wednesday evenings in the Upper Hall at the British Legion, Helen Street, Arbroath from the 7th September. If you’d like to look in on us then come along and see if it’s for you (free of charge on your first night) with no obligation. It’s not necessary to have a knitting machine of your own to join in the fun. Sometimes we can help you acquire one if you’d like. Our members come from all over Angus and it may even be possible to lift share.

Our first meeting this session was all about the care and maintenance of your knitting machine, with a hands on workshop. Knitting for others will take the form of Hats for Heroes and hand knitters can join in too! Come and find out more. Our group project will be a waistcoat with the style and pattern yet to be agreed on. Project work usually culminates in two garments being knitted at the club, which are subsequently raffled. Last year’s project was very popular with many members knitting a copy or variation of the jacket at home. For more information please contact our Organiser Catriona Little on 01307-461916 or our Secretary Wilma Stewart on 01241-870787. Oh and one more thing - we’re always found in stitches!

We’re a small and friendly group with a wealth of knowledge and experience to pass on through demonstrations and talks. There’s a small annual fee in addition to a fortnightly payment of £2, which helps pay for the venue and three to four professional demonstrators per year. We start back after the summer holidays on 6 September 2011 so if you’re a machine knitter with any machine or are interested in taking up machine knitting please come and join us.
