Diary Dates / Event
At Chepstow Leisure Centre Welsh Street, Chepstow, Monmouthshire NP16 5LR on July 4th 2010
We’ve everything well in hand for our first show in Chepstow. It promises to be a great day out for machine knitters and the date is Sunday 6th June. The doors open from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm at the Leisure Centre, adjacent to the comprehensive school in Welsh Street (NP16 5LR for those with Sat Nav).
DIRECTIONS
From the M48, take the first exit over the old Severn Bridge. The A466 Wye Valley Link Road splits from one lane into two. Don’t go right to Chepstow but keep left to go straight ahead. Follow the signs for the racecourse. You pass the hospital on the right, houses on the left and traffic lights. Keep going to a small roundabout at the entrance to the racecourse. Go round the roundabout, following the sign to Chepstow. After a couple of humps in the road and a zebra crossing, the Comprehensive School and Leisure Centre is immediately left. Be warned - Watch out for speed cameras along the route after the bridge!
You can buy tickets on the door. The exhibition will include the usual mix of patterns, demonstrations, yarns, books and knitting machines. It will be nice to see old friends again who may not have attended a knitting exhibition in these parts since the last Thornbury show in 2007 and Alice Wilmshurst’s Get-Together in July 2001. There’s masses of free parking and you’ll find the show entrance inside the building.

LECTURES
As we don’t have a suitable hall in the Leisure Centre for a fashion show, we’re organising three quality lectures. As the centre has strict rules, we have to limit numbers, so entry will be by ticket only and each lecture costs £1. Please order in advance to avoid disappointment and here are details.
11.00 Carl Boyd talking about new patterns and showing us how to make fabulous accessories.
12.30 David Reid from Undy Yarncrafts talking about essential machine maintenance
2.00 Ann Brown talking about her latest Posh Frocks
MACHINES & ACCESSORIES
If you’d like to find out more about buying and using a machine, Anne and David Reid from Undy Yarns will help. David will also give a talk on Machine Maintenance at 12.30. Don’t miss it! John Scotton will be on hand with Hague products.
PARKING
There’s masses of free parking at the Leisure Centre.
REFRESHMENTS
The Leisure Centre café will open to provide drinks and refreshments. To avoid queues, you might like to bring a packed lunch.
YARNS
You’ll find lots to tempt you from Undy Yarncrafts and Uppingham as well as Arnold Bennett with his yarns and popular button selection. So, you’ve no excuse; you should have used up all the dreary, dull cones on charity knitting or given them away by now. It’s looking good, so please join us on the day.
